Friends,

Lets take a look at what we have as far as Technology today. We have Cell phones, Computers, The Internet, Global Positioning Satellites, Cell Phone Towers, and the aid of Google Maps. When these technologies are combined we have a means of locating and tracking people who are lost. Then why are people afflicted with Alzheimer's that wander not found quickly and efficiently? There is no excuse! We at Electronic Health Network have developed The AlzGuard and AlzGuard Network. We want to place Control in the hands of the Caregiver. If someone you love is lost and has no means of returning on their own the last thing a caregiver wants to do is, rely on someone else to find them because they do not have the necessary tools. The tools are here and ready for you to use. No longer do you have to live in fear. Reduce your stress and gain peace of mind with The AlzGuard.

AlzGuard User Blogs : Still Alice

I read the most amazing book on Alzheimers. It is called Still Alice, written by Lisa Genova. I was totally captivated by this book. It was such an iteresting look into living with Alzheimers, from the patients point of view. The book is written in voice of Alice, who is a brilliant Harvard Professor, who starts forgetting little things, as all of us do at times, and having displacement issues. As the book moves forward, in chapters noted by time, you witness Alice slipping into this debilitating decease. It was such a unique experience to really get a glimpse of how this happens. It was heartbreaking at many points, and I was actually moved to tears! Often it was because of Alice's awareness of what was happening and the progression of the disease. She begins to realize and acknowledge that she will soon forget where she lives, where her office is, who her children are and who she is. Soon after, she has forgotten these things, one by one... In the end it was heartbreaking to see how this disease destroyed this brilliant woman and the people who loved her, and to know that there is not yet a viable cure for this disease. While this book is fiction, it is based on true facts and studies about the disease. Genova has studied Alzheimers extensively and done research both with patients and care givers. There is a surplus of information and facts throughout this book, especially in the Forward and Author's notes, that I think are more readily absorbed and understood because of the touching and personal way it is presented. I think that anyone who has a loved one with this disease, and who wants to understand what their loved one is going through, should absolutely read this book! It is poignant and educational and a truly unique reading experience. I hope and pray for a cure for this destructive disease and with all the focus and effort being put on Alzheimers now, I believe that is an attainable goal. In the meantime, I just hope for understanding, compassion, peace and security for all of those effected by it- all of the "Alice's" and their families.

AlzGuard.com Defined : Geofencing

AlzGuard.com Defined

Some of the alzguard device's key features

A Geofence is a virtual perimeter on a geographic area using a uses location-based service, so that when the geofencing device enters or exits the area a notification is generated. The notification can contain information about the location of the device and might be sent to a mobile telephone or an email account.

A GPS tracking unit is a device that uses the Global Positioning System to determine the precise location of a vehicle, person, or other asset to which it is attached and to record the position of the asset at regular intervals. The recorded location data can be stored within the tracking unit, or it may be transmitted to a central location data base, or internet-connected computer, using a cellular, radio, or satellite modem embedded in the unit. This allows the asset's location to be displayed against a map backdrop either in real-time or when analysing the track later, using customized software. Such systems are not new; amateur radio operators have been operating their free GPS-based nationwide realtime Automatic Packet Reporting System since 1982.

Real Time Locating Systems, according to international standards, are used to track and identify the location of objects in real time using simple, inexpensive nodes attached to or embedded in objects and devices that receive the wireless signals from these tags to determine their locations. RTLS typically refers to systems that provide passive collection of location information.

According to ISO/IEC JTC1 SC31 and the accepted standard ISO/IEC 19762-5 an RTLS is a combination of wireless hardware and real-time software that is used to continuously determine and provide the real time position of assets and resources equipped with devices designed to operate with the system.
